3 Healthy Snacks for Kids

Healthy snacks are an important part of your child's diet. Snacks can provide vitamins, nutrients, and fiber to keep your child's growth on track and keep them full until lunch or dinner. Read on to find ideas that you can serve during snack time.

Cheese and Yogurt
Dairy foods that are high in calcium and protein can help your child build strong bones and muscles. Serve cheese with sliced fruit or whole-grain crackers for a healthy, balanced snack.

Fruit is a versatile snack and with many different options parents and caregivers can vary the fruits they serve to keep snack time interesting. When serving fruit, remember that large chunks should always be cut into bite-sized pieces. Your child might also like dipping their favorite fruit into peanut butter.

Snacks with protein like nuts help children build muscle and stay full for longer in between meals. Serve a small handful of nuts such as peanuts, almonds, or cashews alongside another snack like cheese. Since nuts are a choking hazard, don't serve to children younger than 4.
